The Daily Anchor by Elias Maren — Biblical Wisdom, Strategic Reflection, Morning Guidance
Psalm 91:1–2 (KJV)
Psalm 91:1–2 (KJV)

Scripture Devotion

The secret place is a residence, not an emergency exit.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Psalm 91:1–2 (KJV)

Reflection

The key word is dwelleth — not visits, not passes through in an emergency, but lives there. The secret place is a residence, a place of abiding, and the promise of shelter belongs to the one who dwells, not merely to the one who runs in when the storm hits. There's a difference between a refuge you retreat to occasionally and a refuge you live in. And then the response the verse models: I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge. Said out loud, claimed, named. Not a vague sense of safety but a declared one. Saturday is a day made for dwelling rather than dashing — for settling into the secret place long enough that it becomes a residence, and for saying plainly of the LORD what he is.

Motivational Quote

What comes to mind when you think of God is the most important thing about you.

What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.
A.W. Tozer

Application

Tozer opened his best-known book with that sentence, and it reorders the priorities. Not what you achieve, own, or project — but what rises in your mind when you think of God: that, he argues, is the truest measure of a person, because everything else follows from it. A Saturday is a good day to notice honestly what does come to mind, and to let it be corrected toward what's true.
