Scripture Devotion
He only is the rock — not one support among several.
“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”
Reflection
The word only is doing the heavy lifting — he only is my rock. Not one support among several, not the backup when other rocks fail, but the single foundation. That's a clarifying thing to say at the start of a week, because most weeks scatter our trust across a dozen lesser rocks that all turn out to shift. And the result is measured honestly: I shall not be greatly moved. Not "never moved at all" — that would be a lie, and the psalm doesn't tell it. Moved, perhaps, but not greatly, not toppled, not swept off. A Monday is a good day to name the one rock that holds when the lesser ones slide, and to build the week on it.
