Scripture Devotion
Thoughts of peace, thought deliberately toward you.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Reflection
The verse claims something staggering: that there are thoughts being thought toward you, deliberately, and that they are thoughts of peace. Not indifference, not vague benevolence, but active intention aimed in your direction — and its content is peace, not harm. An expected end — a future that's looked-for, planned toward, not left to chance. Read in context, this was spoken to people in exile, with seventy years still to wait; the peace and the expected end were real but not immediate. That's the Monday-sized truth: the good intention is certain even when the timeline is long. The thoughts of peace hold whether or not this week feels peaceful.
